Faxes

Default Line Monitor setting

The default setting for Line Monitor (listening to the line and fax tones through

the speaker during a fax transmission) is initially MONITOR OFF. If desired,

you can change the default setting to MONITOR ON.

1 Make sure that the date and time

display of fax mode appears (if needed

press ) and then press .

2 Press twice.

3 Press to select MONITOR ON or

to select MONITOR OFF.

4 Press repeatedly to exit.

The display briefly shows

your selection, then:

Using an Extension Phone to Send a Fax

If you have connected an extension phone to the TEL. SET jack on the

machine as explained on page 15, you can use the extension phone to send a

fax.

i Using an extension phone to send a fax allows you to listen to the line and

talk to the other party before faxing.

i This procedure cannot be used when the machine is busy with another job.

Note that if the transmission is not sucessful because the line is busy or a

line error occurs, automatic redialing will not take place.
